Linen, known for its natural texture and muted colors, can be used in various ways to add a sense of warmth and comfort to a room. However, apart from linen upholstery on sofas and cushions, choosing linen curtains will add the finishing touch to a room to truly achieve this look and feel.

Natural Linen Fabrics.

While linen fabric is loved for its relaxed beauty, casual sophistication and organic texture there are some factors that you should consider before deciding if this is the right choice for you and your home.

• Linen fabrics crease easily, a look that you’ll either love or hate.
• Linen is prone to fading in sunlight and also, over time can become patchy in appearance.
• Linen is prone to shrinkage, particularly in coastal areas such as the Costa Blanca.

These issues and the unpredictable nature of the fabric have led to more and more linen look alternatives being created which can be used to achieve the same gorgeous look but without the overall downsides that a natural linen has.

By far the most popular choice are the linen blend sheers, available with various percentages of linen, or simply pure polyester. Our clients are often surprised by how natural these fabrics look.

The colour range of these fabrics is stunning, from organic natural and earthy tones to deeper colours. This is ideal for making a statement or using as dress curtains alongside lighter shades. Other fabrics blend various natural tone threads to achieve a broken look. These are perfect for adding a touch of warmth when added to a grey-tone interior scheme.

As well as these lighter weight sheers, linen blend fabrics also come in a range of heavily textured in-between curtain fabrics. These undoubtedly still let the light through but are ideal as an alternative to full weight fabrics that would otherwise block a stunning view.

An increasingly popular choice is pure black which, when set against an interior that includes natural wood textures and light linen furnishings, creates a truly striking combination.
