Frequently Asked Questions
Can vertical blinds be motorised?
Yes. Modern vertical blinds can be fully motorised to make light and privacy control effortless. At Lotus Interiors we offer both rechargeable battery motors and hard wired systems, depending on your preference and home setup. With a motorised option, you can open, close, or tilt your blinds at the touch of a button, through a remote control, a wall switch, or even voice activated smart home systems. This is especially useful for tall or wide windows where manual operation can be less practical.
Are vertical blinds suitable for large windows and patio doors?
Absolutely. Vertical blinds are one of the best solutions for large expanses of glass, sliding patio doors, and French doors. They can be stacked neatly to one side, to the other, or split in the middle depending on your space and how you use the door. This flexibility makes them perfect for Costa Blanca villas and apartments with open views and plenty of natural light.
What are some potential drawbacks of vertical blinds?
Like any window covering, vertical blinds have a few considerations. When the slats are fully open they can sometimes swing together, particularly if the room is breezy with windows or doors open. This can create a light clattering sound. However, modern designs with weighted bottoms or chainless systems reduce this movement. With the right choice of fabric and finish, most clients find vertical blinds practical, durable, and stylish.
Are vertical blinds outdated?
Not at all. Vertical blinds have evolved significantly in recent years and remain a very popular choice. New fabrics, bold textures, and contemporary colour palettes mean they now look fresh and modern rather than dated. Slimline tracks and motorisation options also bring them up to date, making them just as stylish as roller or Roman blinds while retaining their unique practicality for large windows.
Do vertical blinds block out the sun completely?
This depends on the fabric you choose. Blackout fabrics are designed to prevent light from entering, which makes them ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, or media rooms. For living spaces where you want natural light but less glare, UV screen or sheer fabrics work beautifully. We can advise you on the right fabric depending on the room and your lifestyle.
Are vertical blinds easy to clean and maintain?
Yes. Most vertical blinds are low maintenance. Fabric slats can usually be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment or wiped gently with a damp cloth. PVC and aluminium options are even easier to clean, making them a practical solution for kitchens, bathrooms, or rental properties where durability is key.
